Town Hall Ventures 2021 Venture Fellowship
As part of our commitment to DEI, Town Hall has committed to work to actively remove barriers that keep members of underrepresented communities from participating in investing & venture capital. To this end, we are excited to launch our venture fellowship program for graduate students from underrepresented backgrounds in VC, and plan to launch our inaugural cohort of two fellows in Fall 2021.
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about improving the healthcare outcomes for the most vulnerable and underserved populations. If you are intellectually curious, collaborative, want to work with transformative entrepreneurs and are excited about investing, then we look forward to meeting you.
THV Background
We launched Town Hall Ventures in 2018 to invest in healthcare for the communities that need it most. We see an opportunity to rethink care delivery for our country’s most vulnerable populations — the elderly, the disabled, people on low and fixed incomes, and those suffering from chronic conditions — to improve clinical outcomes and bend the cost curve. Our firm has been architected to proactively identify, invest in, and accelerate the growth of transformative companies and visionary teams that are passionate about improving the health of these vulnerable populations.
Town Hall’s General Partners, Andy Slavitt (Former Acting Administrator of CMS, Founding Member of Optum), Trevor Price (Founder & CEO of Oxeon Partners), and David Whelan (Partner, Oxeon Holdings), bring deep expertise in investing and building companies that solve complex healthcare problems, as well as an unparalleled understanding of the government pay and value-based care landscape. Together with our highly strategic Limited Partners, including many of the most forward thinking health systems, payors, and thought leaders from across the healthcare ecosystem, we work side by side with entrepreneurs and our partner investors to rethink the way we deliver and pay for care in this country.
Position Overview
We are looking to bring on individuals who come from backgrounds that are historically underrepresented in venture capital — people of color, people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or gender nonconforming, first-generation immigrants, women, and people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, and others — to join our team as venture fellows.
The fellows will spend the semester collaborating with our team to drive healthcare sectoral research and thematic sourcing efforts. To qualify, individuals must be currently enrolled or planning to be enrolled as of Fall 2021 in an MBA, MD, or MPH program. The fellowship will be paid and will require a minimum 10-hour per week commitment for one semester, with opportunity to extend if there is mutual interest. We are open to the fellow working with our team remotely or out of our NYC office, and will support remote fellows in traveling to our office to present their work to the team.
